Accounting

Accounting is not Bookkeeping. Bookkeeping is not Accounting.

Bookkeeping is a funny term. Sometimes it means "recording transactions", when other times it means "tracking transactions by Who, When, How, For What, and How Much".

I don't care for the first definition, since that's what the bank is supposed to do. The second one is the bare minimum, which is why I roll that in with some further insight and call it...**wait for it**... Accounting!

You need to keep track of the Who, When, How, etc. anyway, but it should be able to tell you something about your business; the results of what you've done, what you're doing now, and where you might be headed. I can help it tell you the story.

I can do as little or as much of this as you don't want to do, thus leaving you more time to focus on your business (even just a little).

Consulting

Sometimes you just need an outside opinion. It's a good idea to get a trustworthy, professional one.

I've advised on multi-million dollar deals down to buying office supplies, dipped my toes in the murky water of real estate, and picked apart countless contracts and business decisions. If you need a hand with something that involves your business and money, I can probably help out. And if not, I'll be the first to tell you and help you find what you need as best I can.

CFO On-Demand

Feel like your business finances are turning into an insatiable monster you have no control over that eats all of your time and you don't know what to do?

I work closely with small business owners who need someone to take care of the inner workings of all the money coming in and going out. I keep my client list short on purpose so I can be flexible on what works for you specifically and provide a personal touch (though it would be nice if a computer could reliably handle bookkeeping).

We will work together to customize a set of one-time initial items and recurring monthly/quarterly services that fits your needs, including:

    • Accounting System Setup
    • Advice on Legal Entity Configuration
    • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (guidelines for documenting transactions, invoicing, etc.)
    • Budgeting
    • Preliminary tax planning (estimated tax payments, advise on tax prep options, basic business taxation considerations, etc.)
    • Advise on fee structure, vendor management, financial aspects of contracts (it should be noted that I'm not an attorney and can't give legal advice)
    • Accounting and Consulting Services (see above)
